I’m sorry, that second gif…I have never seen Damon look so guilty before. I think Stefan needs to really stop and smell the roses in terms of how everyone is changing around him. He’s stuck in his memories of what everyone USED to be rather than who they’ve become, and its seriously hurting him now.
He’s blind to how Damon’s changed. This is one of the most brutally obvious glimpses of Damon’s compassion here, this one expression says so much about how Damon’s moved from the “I’m the center of the world.” You don’t feel guilt if you don’t care about anyone but yourself.
But Stefan, blinded by his anger and hurt over Elena, just refuses to see any of that. (I get it-he’s heart breoken. I am totally not dissing that. He’s hurt, he needs time to heal and all, but that’s not the point here.)
Isn’t this major character flaw the whole reason he and Elena broke up anyway? He couldn’t stop to smell the roses and get to know the new Elena because he was too invested in the old Elena and it killed their relationship.
Stefan needs some serious character development, or glasses. And it pisses me off that the writers refuse to change him and instead just keep making those flaws he should be working on more and more devastating to him.
